1981 Duesenberg II SJ Boattail Speedster
The Elite Heritage Motors Corporation offered multiple body models for its fiberglass-bodied SJ replicas including the boattail Speedster variant. This example is finished in red with lighter coves and boattail accents, and features include a driver-side golf bag door, chrome faux side exhaust pipes, a polished grille surround, and front and rear fog lights. Crazing is noted in the paint.
Chrome wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and are mounted with Firestone 7.00-16″ bias-ply whitewall tires. The Duesenberg II featured a custom X-frame chassis and utilized Ford Twin I-Beam front suspension along with power-assisted steering and brakes. A new brake booster and master cylinder were installed by the selling dealer in 2020. Flaws in the chrome on the wire wheels are noted.
The cabin features tan leather upholstery on the bench seat and door panels along with matching carpets. Amenities include a Ford-sourced HVAC system, power windows, and a Yamaha AM/FM/cassette stereo. The car is equipped with air conditioning and cruise control, although both systems do not work.
