1969 Ford Torino Talladega 428ci Cobra Jet The 1969 Ford Torino Talladega is a legendary American muscle car that was specifically designed for NASCAR racing. Named after the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, this limited-production vehicle was built on the Torino Cobra Sportroof chassis. An aerodynamic body, a 6" longer nose, flush-mounted grille and redesigned rocker panels helped improve the overall performance of the Torino Talladega in competition. To fulfill NASCAR's racing requirement for street-legal production, Ford needed to deliver a limited number of Torino Talladega models for sale to the public. Just over 750 street-legal models (including proto-types) were said to have been manufactured in 1969, but only in three colors - Royal Maroon, Presidential Blue and Wimbledon White. Of those, 258 were Royal Maroon.
This 1969 Torino Talladega is a rare, carefully restored example of a serious Ford performance machine from the '60s. The exterior was reshot in original Royal Maroon. Accents include a matte black hood and Torino GT Argent wheels with caps-rings that mount Kelly radial tires. The black Broadcloth/Vinyl interior is also in outstanding condition.
