Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Ghia, the Mangusta features a backbone chassis with gullwing-style engine compartment doors, fixed quad headlights, side markers, a mesh rear grille, and rear vents with quarter windows and side louvers. Power comes from a 302ci Ford V8 with a four-barrel carburetor and DeTomaso-branded valve covers, mated to a ZF five-speed manual transaxle. Suspension utilizes double-wishbone front and trailing-arm rear layouts with coilover shock absorbers and anti-roll bars, while stopping power is provided by power-assisted disc brakes.
