This 1940 Cadillac Series 90 Imperial Sedan features rare Fleetwood style 9033 seven-passenger coachwork, finished in striking Cavern Green with matching wheels. The exterior includes dual side-mount spares housed under locking V16-branded covers, a Flying Goddess hood mascot, rear coach doors, and brightwork finished in polished chrome. The 16″ green-painted steel wheels wear bright covers with cloisonné V16 logos and Cooper whitewall radial tires. Stopping is handled by four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, while the chassis incorporates independent front suspension and a leaf-sprung solid rear axle. The passenger cabin is trimmed in tan broadcloth over the bench seat, fold-down jump seats, door panels, and cabin divider, which features a roll-up glass window, wood trim, and a Fleetwood-branded clock. Additional features include a color-coordinated headliner and carpeting, woodgrain window frames, horizontally retractable quarter windows, a footrest, robe cord, dual cigar lighters and ashtrays, and a fold-down rear armrest. The chauffeur’s compartment is finished with black leather over a split bench seat, matching door panels, and tan carpeting. The dashboard features a burl woodgrain finish with a clock and locking glovebox, while the ivory-rimmed banjo-spoke “flex” steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant, amperage, fuel, and oil pressure. Power comes from a 431ci L-head V16 with a 135° cylinder bank angle, nine main bearings, dual downdraft Carter carburetors, twin distributors, twin fuel pumps, and twin water pumps, producing 185 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission with synchromesh. With its rare V16 architecture, elegant Fleetwood coachwork, and luxurious seven-passenger interior, this Cadillac Series 90 Imperial Sedan is a distinguished example of pre-war automotive craftsmanship.
